What is SCRIP?

SCRIP means "substitute money." When you purchase SCRIP, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and/or prepaid gift cards that are used just like cash. The merchants who participate with SCRIP want to support non-profit organizations and in return ask you to support them by shopping with SCRIP at their stores.

When to Use SCRIP?

You can use SCRIP to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn money for St. Bernard School.

Why Use SCRIP?

When you purchase SCRIP through St. Bernard School, you receive a 2% tuition credit on your total SCRIP purchases for a year. For example, if you shop Kroger all year using SCRIP and spend a total of $5000, you would receive 2% (or $100) off your tuition fees for the upcoming school year.

If you do not have children attending St. Bernard School, your 2% goes into the school general fund, unless you designate a family to receive the tuition credit. For example, your grandchildren attend St. Bernard School and you would like them to receive the tuition credit. In this instance, you would let the SCRIP representative know who to credit at the time of your SCRIP purchase.

Kroger Re-loadable Cards

Currently, Kroger is the only merchant who offers re-loadable cards. Therefore, once you order your Kroger gift card, it is your card for life. Do not throw away your card after the value has depleted. Simply reload it at the service desk or at a lane, prior to shopping.

Instant SCRIP

For your convenience, St. Bernard School retains several "instant" SCRIP merchants. These cards/certificates are on hand and do not require you to fill out an order form if you come directly to the school office or see a SCRIP representative after Mass.

How to Order SCRIP

SCRIP Order Forms are available in the school office as well as with the SCRIP Representative after Mass. Simply fill out the Order Form and submit it to school. All orders placed by Monday will be available by Thursday of the same week.
