School BoardConstitution of St. Bernard School Advisory Board St. Bernard School is an expression of the education mission of St. Bernard Parish and of the Diocese of Fort Wayne/South Bend, Indiana. The pastor is responsible to the Bishop for the administration of the total parish, including the parish school. The principal of the school functions as the chief administrator of the school and is a member of the parish staff. Regular and open communication between the pastor and the principal take place regarding the operation of the school. Just as the Parish Council serves with the Pastor on behalf of the total parish community, so the Parish School Board serves with the principal for the good of the school. Advisory Members
Purpose and Function St. Bernard School Advisory Board is established by the pastor, in accord with the dioscesan policy, to assist him and the principal in the governance of St. Bernard School. St. Bernard School Advisory Board is a consultative, and members may not act apart from the pastor and the principal regarding the making of decisions binding the parish school. There must be approval from the pastor and principal before any recommended action can be implemented. Consultation also means that decisions will not be made in major matters until and unless the school board members have been consulted.
